ENT surgery in La Roche-sur-Yon

The Vendée department has a shortage of specialist doctors and surgeons. The density of ENT surgeons is particularly low in the urban area of La Roche-sur-Yon compared with other equivalent towns. Nevertheless, the population of the Vendée can legitimately aspire to high-quality medicine within a reasonable timeframe. My partners and I strive to provide the most appropriate care for each case, in line with the recommendations of learned societies and within the limits of our expertise. Discernment in surgical indications and caution in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures remain the hallmarks of good medical practice. The experience I have accumulated and the regular training courses I attend enable me to offer solutions to your ENT medical concerns, including in highly specialised areas such as the treatment of salivary calculi or the placement of implants on the vagus nerve for epilepsy.

Docteur Antoine Delagranda

Your ENT and cervico-facial surgeon

After studying medicine from first to second cycle in Touraine and Brittany, I completed an internship specialising in ENT and cervicofacial surgery, followed by 3 years as head of a university clinic in New Aquitaine. I then worked mainly in the public sector as a hospital practitioner at the University Hospital on Reunion Island for 12 years, with administrative responsibilities for the ENT, maxillofacial surgery and cosmetic and reconstructive surgery departments for 7 years. The experience I have gained and shared with my colleagues in these departments enables me to deal more calmly with the problems associated with our rich and diverse speciality.

Frequently asked questions about ENT surgery

What is the meaning of the acronym ENT (E= Ear N= Nose T=Throat) (in French: Oto-Rhino-Laryngologie, so ORL)

Otology : Medical science whose subject of study is the ear and therefore particularly hearing problems and vertigo. Indeed the inner ear is the sensory organ of hearing by its part called cochlea but also participates in the balance of the body thanks to its other part called vestibule.

Rhinology : Medical science whose subject of study is the nose and more particularly the problems of the sinuses and of smell.

Laryngology: Medical science whose main subject of study is the larynx, organ of phonation (expression of speech by voice) but which has been enlarged over time to the other cavities located between the mouth, nose and esophagus, commonly called throat and pharynx (oropharynx, nasopharynx, hypopharynx).

To be more understandable to all about the skills of the ENT, the term cervico facial has been added because this specialist also takes care of problems located in the neck (cervico) and on the face (facial).

Is an ENT doctor also a surgeon?

Yes, he can treat you medically with medication, rehabilitation and orthopaedic devices, but he can also suggest an operation if necessary.

What conditions does an ENT specialist deal with?

Everything to do with :

  • The ear (external, middle, internal).
  • The mouth with the tongue and salivary glands.
  • The throat with the pharynx, larynx and trachea.
  • The nose and sinuses.
  • The neck with the thyroid and parathyroid glands.

Does the ENT specialist also look after children?

Yes, and very often, for problems with hearing, angina and breathing in particular, but also for rarer pathologies such as embryonic malformations.
