Transtympanic drains or aerators, also known as Yoyo or diabolos, are placed through the eardrum in the paracentesis, with one side in the ear canal and the other in the middle ear. The aim of transtympanic drains is to aerate the middle ear artificially through the tympanic membrane to replace the eustachian tube.
